BJA Friendship Committee Visit to the Brussels Flower Carpet
Saturday 15 August 2026 Charles Buls Fountain

The BJA Cultural Committee is delighted to invite you to an exclusive and immersive Tea and Sushi Workshop in collaboration with Azumaya Antwerp and Ko'uzi.
For more than a decade, Azumaya Antwerp has been dedicated to introducing authentic premium Japanese teas and sharing the richness of Japanese culture through carefully curated events. Their exceptional selection of Japanese teas is highly regarded by renowned Japanese restaurants and discerning tea enthusiasts alike for its uncompromising quality and authentic taste. During this unique workshop, participants will uncover the artistry behind traditional Japanese matcha and sencha, learning how to recreate these refined flavors here in Belgium.
Ko'uzi, a celebrated sushi restaurant distinguished with a Bib Gourmand in the Michelin Guide for four consecutive years, is renowned for its inventive cuisine that harmoniously blends traditional Edomae sushi craftsmanship with contemporary Western influences. As a member of the World Sushi Skills Institute, Ko'uzi is also committed to promoting authentic sushi culture and technique worldwide. In this exceptional hands-on experience, participants will first be introduced to the foundations of sushi preparation, including sushi rice mastery, Japanese knife techniques, and the art of fish cutting. Guided by expert instruction, guests will then create their own temaki (hand rolls), hosomaki (thin rolls), and innovative gunkan-style sushi.
Join us for a journey into the elegance, precision, and flavors of Japanese culinary tradition. Whether you are a passionate foodie, a tea lover, or simply curious to explore Japanese culture, this is a rare opportunity not to be missed – especially in the year we celebrate the 160th anniversary of diplomatic and friendly relations between Belgium and Japan.
