BJA Friendship Committee Visit to the Brussels Flower Carpet

Celebrate the beauty of art, flowers, and friendship with the BJA Friendship Committee at this year's spectacular Flower Carpet on Brussels' Grand Place on Saturday, 15 August!

This year's Flower Carpet honours 160 years of friendship and diplomatic relations between Belgium and Japan through a magnificent floral recreation of Hokusai's world-famous “The Great Wave off Kanagawa”. With nearly 500,000 dahlias arranged across 1,680 square metres, the Grand Place will once again be transformed into an unforgettable work of art.

Designed by Japanese artist Hiro Sugiyama and his collective Enlightenment, this year's Flower Carpet beautifully brings together Japanese artistic heritage and contemporary creativity.

After visiting the Flower Carpet together, we will continue the celebration with dinner at Brasserie Ommegang, where you will have the opportunity to relax, enjoy good food, and catch up with fellow members and friends.

Join us as we celebrate this special anniversary together. Whether you are discovering the Flower Carpet for the first time or returning to admire it once again, we look forward to seeing you there!

Participation fee

BJA Members: Free of charge (online registration is mandatory)
Non-members: 15 €

The first drink is offered by FCOM; additional drinks and food can be purchased by participants.

17:00	Meeting in front of the Charles Buls Fountain
17:15	Visit of the Flower Carpet on the Grand Place (from the ground level)*
18:00	Drinks and food at Brasserie Ommegang (FCOM will offer the first drink)
20:00	End of the event

Families are welcome. Bring your partner and children to enjoy the artistic flower carpet inspired by Japan.

*Our visit of the Flower Carpet does not include a viewing from the Balcony or Tower. If you wish to view the Flower Carpet from up high before (or after) the event, separate tickets can be purchased here
