From Japan to Ramillies: an artistic encounter in the heart of Walloon Brabant - 26 and 27 September
On 26 and 27 September 2026, the municipality of Ramillies will host its Artists’ Trail (Parcours d’Artistes), a weekend dedicated to art, creativity and encounters between artists and the public.
Located in the eastern part of Walloon Brabant, in the heart of the Brabant Hesbaye, Ramillies is a rural municipality made up of eight villages and surrounded by the agricultural landscapes typical of this part of Belgium. Its name also has a place in European history through the famous Battle of Ramillies in 1706, an important episode of the War of the Spanish Succession.
Throughout the weekend, 70 artists will open their studios or exhibit their work at different locations across the municipality, inviting visitors to explore Ramillies while discovering a wide variety of artistic disciplines and creative worlds.
Among these 70 artists, 69 are Belgian and one will be coming from Japan: Kojun Kimura, who will travel especially to Belgium to take part in the event and present his Swedish weaving and tapestry work.
Kojun will be hosted at Just’In Jewels, the workshop and boutique of Fabienne and Serge, artisan jewellery designers based in Ramillies. Working together, they create jewellery in silver and gold, unique pieces and transformations of existing jewellery.
For the Artists’ Trail, their workshop will become a meeting place for several artistic disciplines. Alongside Kojun Kimura, Belgian artists working in painting and photography, ceramics, porcelain painting and sculpture will exhibit their work, while Fabienne and Serge will present their own jewellery creations.
Kojun’s presence in Ramillies has a particularly meaningful resonance in 2026, as Belgium and Japan celebrate 160 years of diplomatic relations. Among 69 Belgian artists, his journey from Japan will create, for one weekend, a small bridge between our two countries through art, creativity and human encounters.
