The Women of Edo Through Woodblock Prints (1603–1868): Between Idealization and Reality
Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of Edo-period Japan (1603–1868) through woodblock prints, which reflect a complex and highly regulated society. This lecture will explore the role of women in a world torn between social constraints and artistic expression. We will seek to understand how woodblock prints shaped the image of Edo women, caught between myth and reality.
