Presentation of the Belgian-Japanese Educational Project Led by Hoshido Media
Our non-profit association, which carries the Hoshido project, presents a cultural and educational initiative dedicated to strengthening the ties between Belgium and Japan, and to transmitting the values rooted in traditional Japanese martial arts to the Belgian public.
Founded by Vincent Bourguignon, a practitioner of Japanese martial arts for more than forty years, Hoshido works to promote the richness of Japanese culture through several complementary actions: publication of the Hoshido magazine, creation of the Hoshido Children’s Workbook, educational activities in Belgian schools, and the teaching of Japanese martial arts within a structured and caring framework.
In the coming months, Vincent Bourguignon will return to Japan to meet and film masters who continue to preserve the country’s martial and cultural traditions. This journey will give rise to a three-part project consisting of:
• an educational documentary for schools: DŌ – The Way of the Masters,
• two art books combining photography, narratives, and interviews: Hikari and Shiori, intended for the general public.
The documentary DŌ – The Way of the Masters is designed as a travelling educational tool, to be presented directly in schools across the country. Each screening will be followed by a discussion with students about essential values for today’s societies: respect, discipline, sincerity, perseverance, responsibility, and intercultural understanding. The goal is to offer young audiences a vivid encounter with Japanese culture and the teachings of Japanese martial arts in an interactive and meaningful format.
This project aims to strengthen cultural links between Belgium and Japan while highlighting Japanese and European masters dedicated to preserving their traditions.
Hoshido Media is currently seeking partners willing to support this non-profit initiative and help increase its educational impact. Partner organizations will benefit from visibility within the documentary, the books, and the Hoshido website, and will be invited to a private pre-screening accompanied by a short conference on Japanese values and their relevance to modern leadership.
