By HE Ambassador Masahiro Mikami, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Kingdom of Belgium
In 2026, Belgium and Japan will celebrate 160 years of diplomatic friendship. On this occasion, I am leading a unique project: a constellation of artistic events and conferences on Japanese culture in Brussels, bringing together traditional music (koto & shamisen), classical and contemporary music, Butoh dance, oral transmission and, depending on the venue, painting and photography.
Why this project?
Because beyond official speeches, friendship between two countries is lived in daily life, in art, in shared emotion. Through this program, I wish to highlight Japanese artists living in Belgium—their roots and their resonances with our culture—in order to offer the public an immersive experience where tradition and modernity meet.
Musicians:
Aki Sato – koto & shamisen
Yoko Kikuchi – piano
Chikako Hosoda – violin
Butoh performance:
Yuri Matsumaru
Lecturer:
Adina Mazzoni-Cernus
Event with variable geometry depending on the location:
Painter: Sei Arimori
Visual artist: Michel Mazzoni
Why is your support essential?
Organizing such a project requires resources: venue rental, piano and projector hire, fair remuneration for participants, communication, audience reception. Every donation directly contributes to making these encounters possible and ensuring their quality.
Why now?
2026 is being prepared today. To bring this celebration to life at the level it deserves, we must already gather the necessary resources. Your gesture today is the key for the project to exist tomorrow.
What you receive in return:
By becoming a donor or patron, you are not only financing a cultural project:
You actively take part in a historic moment of encounter between Belgium and Japan.
You will be thanked and associated with this adventure (mention in communication materials, privileged invitations).
You contribute to bringing to Brussels a rare, profound, and memorable artistic experience.
Join us now and be part of this Resonance of Roots.
Warm regards,
Adina Mazzoni-Cernus
