Exclusive Visit to Owa Beer Brewery and Tasting
欧和ビール醸造所見学とビール試飲会

Thanks to the generous support by Mr. Leo Imai, President and Chief Brewer of Owa Beer, the Belgium-Japan Association & Chamber of Commerce takes pleasure in inviting you to the brewing site in the Abbey brewery of Val-Dieu in Aubel on 23rd of September 2010.
Mr. Imai launched his dream product, Owa Beer, in 2006, only a year after his arrival to Belgium. The amber type with alcohol 5.5% is the first Belgian beer by a Japanese brewer, created under the theme of “Beer for Japanese cuisine”.
On this occasion, the guided visit will take you through the Abbey and the brewing site with the full explanation of how Owa beer is produced. Also during the tasting session, you will have an exclusive opportunity to discover not only the original Owa Beer but also Mr. Imai’s new product – a wild yeast lambic beer combined with ‘Ume’, a Japanese plum, and ‘Yuzu’, Japanese citrus fruit, before its official launching.
この度、日白協会兼商工会議所(以下、BJA)では欧和ビール社社長兼醸造家の今井礼欧氏のご厚意により、Aubel市のVal-Dieu修道院内にある欧和ビール醸造所内への特別訪問を企画致しました。
「日本料理のためのビール」をテーマに、今井氏はベルギーでの修業わずか1年後の2006年にベルギー初の日本人による、アンバー(琥珀)タイプでアルコール度数5.5%のビール、「欧和(OWA)」を誕生させました。
この機会に現在「欧和」ビールが造られているVal-Dieu修道院内並びに醸造所内を見学頂きます。更に試飲会ではオリジナルの「欧和」ビールはもとより、現在開発中の酵母を用いたランビックに日本特産の柚子と梅を漬け込んだ、世界初のベルギーと日本のコラボレーションビールを味わい頂けます。

Seminar - EC Competition Law: risks and opportunities for businesses
EC競争法: リスクとビジネスへのチャンス

Vigorous enforcement by the European Commission has put competition law right in the spotlight. Companies are more than ever aware of the serious risks involved if they do not comply adequately. Yet, although compliance is of great importance, businesses should avoid overdoing their compliance.
Competition law is not just about enforcement and fines. It also offers opportunities by promoting effective and merits-based competition which allows successful companies to reap the rewards of their efforts. Understanding competition law and the new policy trends (e.g. as regards the horizontal co-operation agreements) and procedures (e.g. as regards settlements) is consequently as important as understanding the risks.
The seminar is jointly organised by the EU Committee of the Belgium-Japan Association & Chamber of Commerce and Linklaters LLP. Our speakers, including an EU official, an in-house counsel and private practice practitioners will explore the risks and opportunities for businesses in respect of EC competition law. Japanese translations of the presentations will be made available.
今日、欧州委員会の様々な厳格な執行活動が、競争法にスポットライトを当てております。そのため、企業は以前に増して競争法遵守に力を入れないと、重いリスクを負うことを意識しています。しかし、コンプライアンスが重要だとしても、その負担のオーバーラップは避けるべきでしょう。
競争法は、執行と制裁金に限られる訳ではありません。企業の努力に報いる以上の成功を可能にするような、効果的で、努力に応じた競争の機会を与えるものです。そのため、競争法とその新政策の傾向(水平的協力協定など)を理解することは、リスクを判断する上で大切だと思われます。
本セミナーは、日白協会兼商工会議所EU委員会とリンクレーターズ法律事務所の共同で開催され、欧州委員会職員、企業法務部、実務家などの講演者と共に、EC競争法に関するビジネス上のリスクとチャンスを検討しようとするものです。尚、日本語による資料の配布を予定しております。

Regulatory animal sanitation conditions regarding the health treatment of poultry and poultry products, destined for export from Belgium to Japan
In September 2010 the Belgian and Japanese government will most probably reach a new agreement about regulatory animal sanitation conditions regarding the health treatment of poultry and poultry products, destined for export from Belgium to Japan. These new conditions will be officially announced on the website of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan (MAFF) www.maff.go.jp/e/index.html. According to these new sanitary conditions, Belgian production units, which produce the above mentioned products for export to Japan, will have to apply for an inspection by a Japanese MAFF inspection team. Products originating from MAFF approved production units will be allowed to continue exporting to Japan, even in the event of Avian Influenza (bird flu) being ascertained in Belgium.
Once the new conditions have been officially announced, Belgian and Japanese authorities will plan a MAFF mission to Belgium.
Flemish companies, interested in receiving this inspection team, or looking for more information, can submit an application at, or contact the FIT Tokio office directly, Mr. Dirk De Ruyver or Mr. Georges Nagels (e-mail: tokyo@fitagency.com).
FIT urges interested companies to apply A.S.A.P. and at the latest by 20 October 2010.

Conferment of decoration “The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette” to Mr Dominique le Hodey, BJA Vice-President
The Belgium-Japan Association & Chamber of Commerce would like to congratulate Mr Dominique le Hodey on the conferment of decoration “The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette” to him by His Imperial Majesty and the government of Japan.
The BJA is honoured to have him as Vice-President, and indebted to his expertise and wisdom he gladly shares to the benefit of Belgium-Japan relations.
His zeal and dedication will lead us to take example in contributing to the friendship between our two nations.
The decoration of The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette, was conferred on Mr Dominique le Hodey at an official ceremony on February 5, 2009. The ceremony was held at the residence of H.E. Ambassador Azusa Hayashi, Japanese ambassador to Belgium.
At the conferral ceremony, following the award of the decoration by H.E. Mr Hayashi, the ambassador offered congratulatory remarks and offered the toast.

ＢＪＡ平成20年度外務大臣表彰受賞のレセプション写真集
The Japanese Embassy in Belgium officially informed the BJA that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan awarded in Tokyo on July 15, 2008 the Belgium-Japan Association & Chamber of Commerce a commendation for the outstanding role the BJA plays in fostering the relations between both nations.
The certificate of commendation was bestowed upon the BJA during a reception at the residence of HE Ambassador Hayashi on Thursday 2 October in Brussels.
この度、ＢＪＡは平成20年度外務大臣表彰候補者団体に挙げられ、7月15日に行われた表彰式の席にて正式に受賞者団体の一団体に選ばれました。
日本と諸外国との友好親善関係の増進に努め、その功績に称えるこの名誉ある外務大臣表彰は10月2日に林大使公邸で開かれたレセプションの席にてＢＪＡに授与されました。
