Alfred Schnittke, Trio à cordes
Johannes Brahms, Quintette à clavier, op.34
In his String Trio, Schnittke looks back at the city of Vienna, where he spent some time during his youth. In this meditative composition we hear vague echoes of Schubert, Mahler, and the music of the Second Viennese School, interwoven with personal reflections. Listening to Brahms's impressive Piano Quintet, Op.34, on the other hand, we are struck by its dense structure and novel themes. A real treat for the ears!
